Tony Pulis: I'm not about to quit Stoke City (video) - This is Staffordshire

TONY Pulis has laughed off a report earlier today claiming he was ready to walk out on Stoke City as soon as they were mathematically safe.

Speaking this afternoon ahead of Saturday's game against Norwich, Pulis said of the report: "It's just speculation. The thing with that is they have the right to write what they want and I have to accept that.

"I had lunch with Peter and his brother-in-law on Tuesday and they never mentioned about whether I was leaving or not.

"You are always questioning yourself. But if you are asking me if i'm happy, I am always happy at this football club.

"I have so much respect for the Coates family and my respect would go a lot further than having something sorted out and then just closing the door and walking away."

He accepted results had been poor in 2013, but added: "After seven years we haven't done too bad. Do you get judged over three bad months, or over a period of time?

"But I'm experienced enough to know that if you don't get results there's going to be pressure on you. But I'm big enough to deal with that."

Pulis is hopeful that Matthew Etherington could be named in his matchday 18 after recovering from earlier in the week when he feared the winger's back injury could rule him out for the rest of the season.
