Even a Healthier LA Lakers Group Was Developed for Playoff, Perhaps not Regular-Season, Success

It has been quite the tumultuous period for the La Lakers, but because the sentence goes, ajust get in.a The Lakers are on the brink of clinching a berth, despite all that occurred this season. Robert Brown was shot. Phil Jackson was likely to be named coach. Mike DaAntoni was hired. Dwight Howard was received but had offseason straight back surgery. Steve Nash missed the first month of the season, and now Kobe Bryant is injured throughout a critical stretch run. Regardless, how could any staff feel comfortable experiencing the Lakers in Round 1 of the playoffs? First of all, there is Kobe Bryant, who can single-handedly get a game or two. Bob Nash, Pau Gasol and a significantly increased Earl Clark. Ok last one, letas perhaps not forget Dwight Howard, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the season. Stephen Dunn/Getty Photos For all that has gone awry, is it wrong to think that the Lakers are setup for playoff success rather than the anticipated regular-season success? First, the Lakers are among the effective and most efficient offensive groups in the category. In accordance with hoopdata, the Lakers are eighth in offensive efficiency, sixth in points per game and sixth in true-shooting percentage. While Mike DaAntonias process requires driving the rate in order to increase the quantity of assets in a game, the Lakers are talented enough to score in a, half-court game. Kobe Bryant is as life-threatening a one-on-one player in the background of the NBA. Dwight Howard can control double-teams in the paint and force defenses to fall. David Nash is the ultimate genius, setting up teammates for easy looks. Ultimately, once Pau Gasol is healthier, he provides yet another game problem for teams because of his moving and over all expertise for a huge. The Lakers are entirely capable of playing at any speed, but the slower the sport becomes and the fewer possessions there are, the Lakersa expertise on both ends of a floor should theoretically take over. The only real issue is that DaAntoni has refused to modify his program to fit the strengths of his best people. Second, Dwight Howard is one of many few players who is capable of changing an entire playoff collection by himself. Howardas playoff averages of 19.9 points, 14.4 boards and 2.8 blocks per game is exceptional. His offensive performance mightn't be as great because it was when he played for the Orlando Magic, but his safety is potentially series-altering. Los Angelesa defense has been the cause of their problems all season long, but a decreased turning and an engaged Howard may cause trouble for whichever group the Lakers experience should they reach the postseason. Dwight has not had a defensive status of more than 100 since his second year in the group, according to basketball guide. His score is right at 100 this season, but that's also considering his recovery from offseason right back surgery, and too little defensive emphasis by the training staff. The Lakers may not be able to fix all their defensive problems before the playoffs, but an enthusiastic Dwight Howard will make things increasingly problematic for opposing teams. Finally, there's Kobe Bryant. Perhaps the most powerful competition since Michael Jordan, Bryantas will to win is infectious. Every lover in La likely to see Kobe lead the Lakers back to the the top of Western Conference rankings. Everyone writing off a Bryant-led team in the postseason must not have now been focusing over the past 16 years, while that did not happen. Moreover, Kobe is having one of his better times in years, and that is saying something considering how well he played this past year. Not merely is he third in scoring, but he ranks third among firing second in efficiency and pads in PER. He truly is going to be difficult to prevent, with Dwight Howard hiding in the paint to seize rebounds and Steve Nash spotting up across the ground. Basically, the Lakersa success, should the playoffs be made by them, is going to be based upon energy. the Lakers have to perform hard on both ends of the floor all the resources exist for a first-round angry, but to do. The defense has been challenging, in a seven-game series will groups manage to manipulate the Lakersa flaws over and over? What Dwight Howard may show up? There are many of issues, as has been the case all year. Notwithstanding, a healthy La Lakers team will probably be a hard out. They've the elements for playoff achievement, but do they have the best recipe?
