UPDATED: 18:05 EST, 3 April 2013 Birmingham City leader Vincent Kompany seems next Monday's derby against Manchester United has lost none of its significance. The Old Trafford showdown isn't the title-decider that numerous could have expected earlier in the plan with City all but from the reckoning for the Barclays Premier League crown. With the champions looking United by 15 points with only nine games outstanding and boss Roberto Mancini having conceded defeat, thoughts can easily switch to the FA Cup semi-finals. The important opponent said: 'A derby is really a derby. I really do not think we could care less about the league because sport. 'It is approximately who's likely to be champions of Manchester - that's all it is.' The stakes were higher when the sides satisfied at the Etihad Stadium last April with three games of the summer season remaining. City went in to the game looking United by three things and faced the prospect that defeat could all but expel them from the battle. Chilled? City were at their rampant best last time they visited Old Trafford in October 2011, working impressive 6-1 winners. The winning post may be in sight for United but, with a desire to avenge that last thrashing, Kompany knows you will have no easing up. The 26-year-old said: 'I do not assume Manchester United to be less motivated because they have this factors space between us where they are fairly safe. 'It will be like a one-off game, it'll be like a cup final. You will have every thing inside. 'For the neutrals we have experienced a couple of good derbies within the last few couple of years. 'I can just only hope exactly the same with a ending for Manchester City.'
