Kraft Nabisco Championship History and Past Champions

The Kraft Nabisco started as a 54 pit event, called the Colgate Dinah Shore Tournament. It has always been held at the Old Course at Mission Hills Country Club. The inaugural occasion was won by Jane Blalock. Nabisco became the sponsor in 1982. That year, the Dinah Shore was the first LPGA event to own all times broadcast on national television (by ABCa'always a pal to golf). The competition was created a by the LGPA the following year. For those who aren't old enough to keep in mind, Dinah Shore was an artist, actor and exploratory tv talk show host. Starting her career in as an artist radio, she had her own program by 1943. Throughout the Second World War, Shore was the very first woman to see soldiers at the front. Following the war, songs were recorded more than 70 by her, including one named aDinaha, which gave her the nickname (her true name was Frances Rose). She had her very own television variety and talk show starting in 1951. In the late a60s and a70s, the present was called aDinah!a and was extremely popular it was watched by my mother religiously). She undoubtedly was the master who made Oprah! possible. Coast died in 1994. For the LPGA, Shore was a tireless promotera'kind of the Bob Hope of womenas golf. Dinah Shore may be the firsta'and onlya'honorary member of the LPGA Hall of Fame. She was granted the Patty Berg Award on her efforts to womenas tennis. Coast also left her mark in the traditional celebratory swimming after the event. In 1991, she joined Amy Alcott for the dunka'the aswim at the Shore.a Viewers will definitely begin to see the swim again this year. The current title of the event reflects Kraftas 2000 purchase of Nabisco models. Kraft Nabiscoas support for the event is very powerful, offeirng a purse of $1.8 million. Itas a pity, though, that Dinah Shoreas title no further is linked to the tournament she began. Goal Hills will perform as a 6,569 garden level 72 for the contest. The program was designed by Desmond Muirhead. The signature is the 531 property par 5, with an island green sitting right in front of the clubhouse.
