Santonio Holmes is currently attending class at Kentkucky State and rehabbing his Lisfranc injury as being the Jets enter rookie minicamp along with OTAs, Conor Orr in the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
But his offseason has still proven eventful, especially as soon as Jets forced him to restructure his contract, leaving him with simply the guaranteed money they are owed heading into this coming year.
When asked why he decided the cut, Holmes said it was subsequently because he had the most beneficial interest of the Jets in the mind.
"I want to be here for however long it takes, and if it means helping out the team I'm travelling to continue helping out the team in any way possible, " Holmes said over the NBC Sports Network Friday night.
When asked regarding the quarterback competition, Holmes claimed, "Right now, it's Sanchez and that's who we're the use of and we're going to continue on this road until such time as time permits. "
Holmes said he talked to Sanchez both today and yesterday and is certain he's still going as a team leader. It appears the two have continued repairing their relationship in the debacle to end the 2011 season.
