LONDON (SE) - Wigan Athletic is likely to be looking to keep their success hopes living while they welcome Champions League-chasing Tottenham Hotspur to the DW Stadium on Saturday evening. Roberto Martinez's Wigan (8-7-18) are three things from protection, but have a game at your fingertips on their nearest rivals and perform other strugglers Aston Villa on the final matchday. The Latics beat Saturday's visitors 1-0 at White Hart Lane earlier in the season, but Martinez is fully alert to the task that awaits his group this weekend. "We'll have to be perfect; our sport against Tottenham at White Hart Lane acts as an ideal exemplory case of what we need to do if we're to gain the game," explained Martinez in his pre-match press conference. "The only way it is possible to compete keenly against a team like Spurs is by being strong in every single office. They're serious competitors for a location in the Champions League certification areas so we know how big the challenge in front of us, but we have to concentrate on ourselves and what we can do playing at our house with our supporters behind us. "This is among three home games we have remaining in 2013 and we must relish these opportunities, discuss the crucial emotions with the supporters and do everything we can to accomplish our aims. We have shown our most readily useful levels in recent months but should just execute a little bit more in both penalty areas. When we do this we'll compete against anyone." Tottenham's spectacular 3-1 comeback make an impression on Manchester City last weekend has had them right back in to the competition for the Champions League places. Gaffer Andre Villas-Boas' side (18-7-8) are just two points behind Arsenal in third, but have a casino game at hand over their north London competitors. "We are in control since we have the game in hand, nevertheless the game in hand is against Chelsea," described Villas-Boas. "It is just a hard game at Stamford Bridge and this is considering we score all of the things possible before that fixture. That sport against Chelsea will be the decider in the end. "The team is continue annually. The people wish to perform in the Champions League, and we are showing that." Wigan have doubts over Ben Watson (broken leg) and Albert Crusat (knee), but Antolin Alcaraz (hamstring), Mike Pollitt (hip) and Ivan Ramis (knee) are out. Tottenham have concerns over Aaron Lennon (knee) and William Gallas (calf), while Younes Kaboul (leg) and Sandro (knee) stay out. Martinez's area have the worst home defensive record in the league, conceding 32 goals in 16 games, but have won their last two games at the DW and registered their first home clean page in the win over Norwich in their last recreation on their own spot. Spurs have won nine matches abroad this season - a Premier League club record and one which only winners Manchester United could better. United are also the only real club to have taken more points and scored more goals traveling than Tottenham's 29 points and 31 goals. Wigan's conquer Spurs in November was only their next contrary to the Lilywhites from 16 all-time meetings. The Latics have never done a category increase over Tottenham, and Reading will be the only Premier League group they have managed to beat twice this year.
