FC Barcelona have been going through another hard February which inspired me to take a peek at some of the criticisms that have been aimed at the club recently. Deficits are area of the game. You would have teams winning trebles on an annual basis If it was very easy and simple to win football games. Yet somehow they only appear to happen once in a decade. A sextuple, a unheard of until five years back, has happened once in the entire history of soccer. Once! And we, CulAs, were lucky enough to witness it first hand. Where I am using this chances are you probably know - you can not win them all. For many we realize the Copa del Rey was only the first of two competitions BarAa will be broken out in two days. Yesterday's game was more or less a disaster, but directing hands won't solve the difficulties. The truth is that the team only did not arrive. The exact same way it didn't arrive against AC Milan and for large areas of the overall game against Sevilla. The person that has been receiving probably the most blame for the club's current situation is Jordi Roura. But let us be honest; Roura has been given a dreadful hand. Being an interim head coach taking over a club, although his official title stays assistant coach, with little to nothing managing knowledge. In my own eyes a very good job have been done by him in this example, despite the problems along the way. Might Tito Vilanova have fared any better overtaking for Pep Guardiola within their first season together? It's possible, but unlikely because Tito also had little to none managing knowledge at that time. Overpowering following a coach that had the maximum amount of success as Pep did is no easy task, but a marvelous job have been done by Tito. And a good job have been done by Roura while Tito is away, caring for the only thing that really matters in life - life itself. So let us enjoy every success we could get, because it could be so much worse... Also, let's not forget, this is not Roura's membership. BarAa have mounted webcams in order that Tito could watch services and then relay his instructions to the teaching staff via phone. Also, conditioning instructor Aureli Altimira has frequently been seen talking on the telephone during activities, possibly talking to Tito who was giving instructions to the team. Therefore, putting the blame entirely on Roura's shoulders is wholly unfair. This stretch can be as much on the entire teaching staff because it is on the people. The people, many of them, are getting through a period reduced in form. Lionel Messi hasn't been herself in the last few games, though, his condition could have been increased lately by way of a fever that made him miss practice today. Cesc Fabregas has been missing in action for about monthly now, while Andres Iniesta hasn't been performing much better. Enjoying them both on the left side of the (attacking) midfield has caused problems in play develop. Xavi was in form before his injury, but since then he's not had the oppertunity to restore that form. I really could make that same case for several others like Pedro, Alexis Sanchez, also Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano. The sole players apparently in great form at this time are Dani Alves, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique. Which brings us to it program that Barcelona use that features a drop in form in February. Barcelona used this strategy since Guardiola took over administration of the team. But until this year, BarAa managed to get through February relatively unscathed. Why? A number of it's related to chance, particularly in the Champions League. In decades past BarAa's Round of 16 opponents were: Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal, Stuttgart, and Lyon - all groups that play more or less open basketball. This season Barcelona weren't as lucky because they were drawn with Milan, who despite dropping many key players, remain a power to be reckoned with. Some said I was crazy perhaps not attempting to confront Milan in the Round of 16, because apparently they certainly were an easy problem. Well, they are maybe not, since the first leg played at San Siro showed. Milan really are a real side, using ways you can examine them to Real Madrid, and in the past few seasons BarAa have fought against groups of this kind (see: Chelsea). Combine that with the anticipated fall in form and you are just requesting a bad outcome. Also, before Barcelona had many rating alternatives that may bail out the team when Messi was not playing at his best, something this team, this season, doesn't have. Alexis and Pedro are struggling, and David Villa and Cristian Tello aren't the solution, up to I would want them to be. Neither of the latter two help much on the defensive side of the ball, where Barcelona come in desperate need of help from midfielders and wingers. Merely getting in a fresh center-back will not resolve the defensive situation Barcelona have discovered themselves in. Pep didn't have such dilemmas since under his rule as only the proper back, Alves, was given fighting obligations, as the left back, mostly Eric Abidal, stayed further back which gave Barcelona an additional defender it's now. It is an easy quantities game and Barcelona have lived on the side of this game the whole period. But now, in February, those figures have caught up and it's demonstrating on the scoreboard. What the want to correct those problem is I do not know, but with the club using a difficult working adversary (albeit with dubious readiness) and defensive supports, makes me think the club understands the issues. But in the meantime, let us perhaps not panic over every loss. We should count ourselves very lucky that we are living with this Barcelona era and not search for individuals to put under the bus (no pun intended). If somebody had asked me prior to the start of the period if I would be happy with "only" winning the Manhattan project Liga subject I would've without a shadow of a question said yes. We, Barcelona fans, are becoming really spoiled because the start of the Pep Guardiola time and it appears when we lose a game title a sizable proportion of fans adopts panic mode. Why! ?? Losses occur and before they're an important the main game when I have said. Ask yourself, just how many fans of other clubs could just take the state our membership is in right now over theirs?
