Tampa Bay Title Past Champions and History

The Tampa Bay Championship offered by Everbank has received a brief and tumultuous history. The event was created in 2,000 being an event to the Presidentas Cup. In 2001, it was said to be the alternate occasion to the WGC-American Express Championship, but was cancelled due to the terrorist attacks on September 11. It served as the alternative celebration in 2002. Chrysler became the sponsor in 2003, and the event had a unique position while the last full-field event prior to the Tour Championship. Renamed the Chrysler Championship, that spot was held by the tournament until 2006. In 2007, a new slot was found by the tournament in the schedule, and a new sponsor: PODS. Originally, PODS had a six year support settlement, but backed from an option after 2008. Transitions Optical, still another Florida organization, became the mentor in '09. The tournament was left by transitions in 2012, but two weeks ahead of the 2013 event, Everbank used the reigns. The people most abundant in victories in the case are Retief Goosen (2003 and 2009), and K.J. Choi (2002 and 2006). Retief Goosen can be the tournamentas top income winner, with over $2,000,000 in profits at the function. The event history was established by Vijay Singh in 2004 with a winning total of 266.
